OAKLAND — An 18-year-old has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with the October party shooting that killed two brothers and left two others hospitalized with injuries, authorities said.Joaquin Godoy, of Oakland, was charged Tuesday with murder in the deaths of brothers Jazy Sotelo Garcia, 17, and Angel Sotelo Garcia, 15, at the Oct. 1, 2022 house party. A second suspect, arrested in March, has not yet been charged, authorities said.Godoy is suspected of being one of at least two shooters to open fire at the party. Police believe one of the victims was mistaken for a rival gang member, but that no one that was struck by gunfire actually had any gang ties. The brothers had called a parent to pick them up from the party so they wouldn’t break their curfews shortly before they were killed around 10 p.m., authorities say.Godoy, who turned 18 just one month after the shooting, was charged in juvenile court. BRENTWOOD — Police are looking for two suspects wearing ski-masks who got into a shootout with a resident while attempting to break into a vehicle over the weekend, authorities said.In a statement Tuesday afternoon, police said officers responded around 4 a.m. Sunday to the 2700 block of Serene court for a report of a shooting outside a home.When officers arrived, they learned that suspects in a driveway had been trying to break into a victim’s vehicle when the victim confronted them.One of the two suspects then fired at the victim, who was armed and fired at least three rounds back at them. On Tuesday, Santa Clara County announced its libraries would be stocked with Narcan for public use, according to the office of Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez. Wooden Award as the nation’s top men’s college basketball player.The announcement was made Tuesday on ESPN.Edey is the first Canadian-born winner and the second player from Purdue to be honored, joining Glenn Robinson in 1994.The 7-foot-4 Edey is the first player since winner David Robinson of Navy in 1987 to have at least 750 points, 450 rebounds and 50 blocks in a single season.Voting by a national panel took place from March 13-20 during early rounds of the NCAA Tournament. GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (KDVR) — Last week, the governor's office announced a plan to create more housing across Colorado. Senate Bill 23-213 makes way for more housing by allowing people to build accessory dwelling units, duplexes, triplexes or townhomes on their properties.“By cutting red tape, legalizing more housing choices, strengthening property owners' rights, and planning for future growth, we can create more housing at a lower cost in Colorado communities near where people work or play,” Gov. Jared Polis said.Under the bill, buyers can build multi-family housing, up to six units, in residential zones. It also allows for ADUs, or accessory dwelling units, to be built on single-family lots. The ADUs can be up to 50% of the size of the original structure and within 5 feet of the property line. A car crashed into an apartment building in Everett on Tuesday, rattling neighbors and drawing an emergency response. The crash happened Tuesday afternoon on Broadway.
