Four-day school weeks rising around Missouri, but not so much in St. Louis area ST. LOUIS - Back-to-school time has arrived. This week or next week marks the start of a new school year for hundreds of districts around Missouri. Depending on where your children live in the Show Me State, they could be preparing for the traditional five-day school week or possibly a shortened four-day school week. Chances are, if your children live in the St. Louis area, they will not have that extra day off school. Four-day school weeks are becoming popular in some parts of Missouri, particularly rural counties, to combat teacher shortages statewide. The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education estimated around a 5.4% shortage in qualified teachers and full-time employees statewide in a December 2022 report. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - A teenager faces felony charges nearly half a year after a deadly shooting in St. Charles County, one that followed plans to meet for a marijuana purchase and stage a robbery. Prosecutors have charged Trevon Gully, 18, with one count of second-degree murder, first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action in the investigation. Road rage mystery solved as ghost driver gets prison time According to the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Juvenile/Family Court ordered certification on Monday, so Gully will be tried as an adult in court. Gully and another suspect reportedly met the victim in the City of St. Charles in February 2023. Investigators say there were plans to purchase marijuana, but also pull off a robbery. Army destroys World War II landmine found by hiker in Colorado forest near Camp Hale The Army has deployed an explosives demolition team and destroyed a World War II-era landmine found by a hiker in the White River National Forest near Camp Hale, Eagle County Sheriff officials announced on Tuesday.The hiker contacted sheriff deputies on July 20 and told them about a gray metal device with yellow letters on it that appeared to be an old landmine.
