The house is now home to Banging Gavel Brews — a brewery and tap room. "The building was built in 1865 by the Lewis brothers as a hunting lodge believe it or not and over the years it's gone over several transitions," said Jim Richert, President of Banging Gavel Brews.WGN's Alyssa Donovan takes you there on this Saturday's edition of Weekend Break.

South Loop Farmers Market heads indoors for the winter CHICAGO — For the first time in its ten year history, the South Loop Farmers' Market moved inside the Roosevelt Collection Shops for the winter."We are super thrilled to have a winter season every Saturday through March 30," said Tina Feldstein, one of the vendors at the South Loop Farmers Market Saturday.About 30 vendors will be nestled into Roosevelt's each week during that timeframe. Sunday Brunch with Lost Reef Lounge "The community loves the farmers market and we’ve seen that when they come through the summer season," Feldstein said. "But when we go through this long hiatus, people are just wishing and waiting for the market to come back."With oils to heat the palate, a little snip of micro greens and fitness events all bundled into one space, it's a way to live a farmers market life in the dead of winter.

A recent survey completed by Anidjar and Levine ruled Hawaii the most dangerous state for cyclists and motorcyclists. The study gave the latest National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data on fatal collisions between the years of 2017 and 2021 in order to compare the amount of total fatal crashes to total fatal crashes involving two-wheeled vehicles. Binny, the trash-can mascot of the Disney World drinking club, has disappeared “Hawaii is a beautiful place to cycle, with stunning views and weather, bike tourism is on the rise,” said an Anidjar and Levine spokesperson.According to reports, Hawaii had a total of 483 fatal crashes overall, 21 of them involving cyclists and 130 of them involving a motorcycle. Much of the snowfall came Friday evening, and some still had an opportunity to enjoy the snow on Saturday. Christy Gaus and her husband took their two-month-old and one-year-old daughters out to Francis Park on Saturday morning to play in the snow. “It's a joy,” Gaus said. “We have our other little baby in a bucket seat down there, waiting for us to get down on the hill." MLK state birthday celebration kicks off Saturday in St. Louis ST. LOUIS - Saturday marked the kickoff for the statewide Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration.The event was held at Harris-Stowe State University. The celebration marks the beginning of events statewide to honor the civil rights leader.The federal holiday on January 15 will celebrate MLK's birthday. A special state commission is coordinating the activities. Snow blankets St. Louis, more winter weather expected "All the cities and towns of Missouri have representatives on this commission that plan programs honoring Dr. King and continuing his legacy," said Rev. Earl Nance with the commission. This is the 38th year of the celebration. Events are planned in celebration of MLK through February.

Balloons released in memory of St. Louis murder victim ST. LOUIS - Family and friends gathered Saturday in memory of Kishela Wellington, a murder victim who died last month at the age of 20. They released balloons Saturday afternoon in Wellington's memory near Kingshighway Boulevard and Martin Luther King Drive in north St. Louis. Snow blankets St. Louis, more winter weather expected Investigators say Wellington was fatally shot and found near that intersection on Dec. 29, 2023. Police have not yet disclosed information about a potential suspect or motive in the shooting. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is handling the investigation.
