MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Sergio Perez will start from the pole at the Miami Grand Prix, where he has been given clearance to race for both the win and the championship. Perez trails Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen by just six points in the championship standings and team boss Christian Horner vowed in Miami to allow the drivers to race for the title. The pole for Perez was the third of his career, but the other two were on the street circuit at Jeddah. Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and will try to make it two straight Sunday. “Checo! Checo! Checo!” the crowd chanted for Perez while waving Mexican flags. He said the Saturday qualifying effort was a massive turnaround after he had struggled through all three practice sessions. “Everything came more alive and we were just playing with the tools and we put the lap in that we nee...

The real surprise is the insertion of 19-year-old defenseman Luke Hughes into a lineup that is led by his 21-year-old brother and budding superstar, Jack.Luke Hughes is going to replace defenseman Ryan Graves, who sustained an upper body injury in Game 2 on Friday night.“If I get the opportunity I am very prepared and very ready,” Luke Hughes said after staying late after practice ended to work Saturday with the power-play unit.If he had been told he was playing, he didn’t let anyone know.Ruff, who usually does not disclose lineup chang...

CINCINNATI (AP) — White Sox designated hitter Eloy Jiménez was hospitalized on Saturday due to abdominal pain. “He had some abdominal pain last night and it intensified throughout the night,” White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said. “This morning we took him to the hospital for further evaluation and he’s still there. We should know something shortly.”Jiménez is on a season-high eight-game hitting streak after going 1 for 4 with a single and two strikeouts in Friday night’s 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. He went 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs on Thursday. “Any time you have to go in with abdominal pain, it is scary,” Grifol said. “I talked to him this morning, and he said it hurt when he moves. It intensified a little bit, so we’re erring on the side of caution to see what it is.” The White Sox (11-22) have won four of their last five games after a poor April. Yasmani Grandal was to be the designated hitter on Saturday, with Seby Zavala catching.___...
