There are many ways to think about the news that Bradley Cooper and Gigi Hadid are reportedly getting “serious” in a relationship that suddenly blossomed about a month ago.For one thing, it shows that the 48-year-old Academy Award winner has a thing for supermodels. It also shows that the “Maestro” actor-director may see himself as a great artist, but his romantic choices are a bit cliche, in that he’s like a lot of powerful male stars who date significantly younger women. They’re not paid to tell you the truth. They’re paid to get you to sign, by any means necessary.I’m frustrated because this is a corruption of our democracy. Gathering signatures should represent grassroots support and put a check on the powers that be. Instead, it’s being co-opted by those powers, which are paying to re-roll votes and legislation that don’t go their way. Though I am disgusted by how Gov. Newsom has let PG&E get away with murder, the recall campaign against him didn’t do any good and cost California taxpayers $200 million.I will be calling my California legislators. It’s past time they improved the recall system, to make it less exploitable. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan — the only Palestinian American in Congress — for her rhetoric about the Israel-Hamas war.A vote to move forward on censuring Tlaib, a punishment one step below expulsion from the House, advanced Tuesday in a procedural vote. Republican Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgia proposed the measure in response to what he called Tlaib’s promotion of antisemitic rhetoric.“Rep. Tlaib has levied unbelievable falsehoods about our greatest ally, Israel, and the attack on October 7,” McCormick said.Debate on the censure resolution was emotional and intense. With other Democrats standing by her side, Tlaib defended her stance and accused Republicans of trying to silence differing views about the decades-long conflict in the Middle East.“I will not be silenced and I will not let you distort my words,” Tlaib said, adding that her criticism of t...Two dead bodies found at Santa Rosa apartment complex
