A curbside memorial marks the spot where Mendota Heights police officer Scott Patrick was murdered during a traffic stop just over the city’s border in West St. Paul nine years ago Sunday.People still leave flowers, candles and other things at the spot on Dodd Road, just south of Smith Avenue, to pay tribute to Patrick, a well-known officer who took pride in his community-based policing during his nearly two decades as a cop.Neil Garlock stopped by the site Friday morning with a can of blue spray-paint. He went over the “MHPD” and “2231,” Patrick’s badge number, which someone first put on Dodd Road a year to the day after the 47-year-old officer was fatally shot.Garlock was Patrick’s field-training officer for three months, then his sergeant. A massive water main break flooded a neighborhood in Sherman Oaks on Friday afternoon.Calls reporting the flood on the 5100 block of Matilija Avenue came in around 3:24 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.Sky5 video showed an intersection completely flooded with a running stream of water flowing down the long road.Moments after Sky5 arrived, a fire hydrant appeared to have burst, creating a forceful geyser that gushed water down the street to Riverside Drive. The water was spraying at heights of around about 6-8 feet with the asphalt underneath appearing completely destroyed.Water was shut off to residents in the neighborhood as crews from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the L.A. A brush fire burning near Temecula has charred more than 1,200 acres with very little containment as of Friday afternoon, authorities said.The Bonny Fire was first reported around 2:45 p.m. Thursday near the 44000 block of Bonny Lane in Aguanga, a city about 20 miles east of Temecula.
