Brad Marchand nets OT game-winner to lift Bruins over Leafs

Published Thu, 06 Mar 2025 04:30:34 GMT

The Toronto Maple Leafs talked about exacting vengeance on Brad Marchand going into Saturday’s game at Scotiabank Arena. Marchand chose to be the hero instead. With the seconds ticking down in a wild overtime, Joseph Woll stopped David Pastrnak on a breakaway, but Pastrnak stuck with it and tried to bank it off the leaping Woll. It got through him and to Marchand, who gloved it down and scored into an empty net with eight seconds left in OT to lift the B’s to a 4-3 win, perhaps the most entertaining game of the season.“It was a lot of fun, a lot of energy back and forth and a lot of high-end plays being made by both teams,” said coach Jim Montgomery. It was a happy Bruin ending to what could have been a gutting evening of hockey. After the B’s coughed up another 2-0 lead to the Leafs, Trent Frederic broke a 2-2 tie with 6:51 left in regulation with a greasy goal. Morgan Geekie gained the offensive zone and dropped it for Derek Forbort at the blue line. Wit...

ST. LOUIS - Police are investigating a series of car break-ins between Friday night and Saturday morning in south St. Louis. One of the targets was a city firehouse.Vandals hit Engine House 31, breaking out windows of four personal vehicles while crews were out on a call. They returned to find windows shattered and broken glass around the vehicles.FOX 2 learned that three of the vehicles belonged to firefighters and one belonged to a civilian. St. Louis Fire Department Captain Garon Mosby calls it disheartening. "It's tough," said Mosby. It's disheartening and unfortunate that you have members of the community out responding to calls while we're away from the house."Mosby says this is the fourth incident at the firehouse over the past several years.
